1.02 lakh candidates failed to matriculate during past four years in Meghalaya
Reviewing the result of the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) Examination for the past four years, the results is disappointing and alarming as over one lakh candidates failed to clear the SSLC Examination as the overall percentage never crossed 60 percent thereby emphasizing on the need for retrospection by the Meghalaya Government, the teachers, the parents and the society as a whole to improve the trends in the next coming years.
According to data provided by the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBoSE), in 2019 a total of 50050 candidates appeared in the SSLC Examination but only 27887 managed to pass the examination giving an overall percentage of 55.72 %. The result did not get any better in 2020 as the percentage dropped by five percent in 2020 to 50.31 % in 2022 as 25195 out of 50081 candidates cleared the examination.

The number of candidates who appeared for the SSLC Examination crossed the 60000 marks but the result continues to remain stagnant at the 50 percent marks. A total numbers of 64269 candidates appeared but 34000 of them cleared the examination giving an overall percentage of 52.90 %.
The overall pass percentage increased by few percent in 2022 as 32678 candidates cleared the Board examination out of a grand total of 57371 candidates and the pass percentage stand at 56.96 % the highest in the past four years.

Summing up the numbers of the candidates during the past four years, the total numbers of candidates who appeared for SSLC is 221771 while the numbers of candidates who cleared the examination is 119760 leaving a grand total of 102, 011 candidates who failed to clear the Board examination.
