10 more die of COVID-19 in Meghalaya, toll at 955
The state on Sunday recorded 10 COVID-19 related deaths, pushing the death toll to 955 in the state.
According to Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War, 8 were reported from East Khasi Hills district and 1 each from West Garo Hills district and West Jaintia Hills district.
He said the state also detected 387 new cases. These include 142 in East Khasi Hills, 96 West Garo Hills, 58 Ri Bhoi, 41 West Jaintia Hills, 23 West Khasi Hills, 8 East Jaintia Hills, 6 North Garo Hills, 4 South West Garo Hills, 2 East Garo Hills and 1 South Garo Hills.
Dr War also informed that 323 persons have recovered from the viral infection.
Of these, 76 are from West Garo Hills, 68 East Khasi Hills, 46 Ri Bhoi, 45 West Jaintia Hills, 18 North Garo Hills, 17 East Jaintia Hills, 15 West Khasi Hills, 14 East Garo Hills, 10 South Garo Hills, 9 South West Khasi Hills and 5 South West Garo Hills.
So far, the state has detected a total of 57,775 COVID-19 cases out of which 4,033 are active cases, 52,787 recovered and 955 deaths.
With 1,194 active COVID-19 cases, East Khasi Hills, that includes state capital Shillong, is the worst affected district in the state, followed by West Garo Hills with 914 cases and Ri Bhoi with 585 cases.
There are 476 cases in West Jaintia Hills, 174 South West Khasi Hills, 165 North Garo Hills, 159 West Khasi Hills, 131 East Garo Hills, 86 South West Garo Hills, 85 South Garo Hills and 64 East Jaintia Hills.
