12 more die of COVID-19 in Meghalaya, toll at 664
Twelve more persons have succumbed to COVID-19 on Sunday taking the death toll in the state to 664.
According to the Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War, 11 deaths were reported in East Khasi Hills district and 1 in West Jaintia Hills district.
The state has also recorded 488 new COVID-19 cases and with this, the total number of active cases stands at 5,583.
Dr War said the new cases include 235 in East Khasi Hills, 82 West Garo Hills, 49 West Jaintia Hills, 44 South West Garo Hills, 23 East Jaintia Hills, 16 North Garo Hills, 10 East Garo Hills, 9 West Khasi Hills, 8 South West Khasi Hills, 7 South Garo Hills and 5 Ri Bhoi.
He also informed that as many as 690 patients have also recovered from the viral infection during the past 24 hours.
Of these, 360 are from East Khasi Hills, 85 West Jaintia Hills, 64 South West Khasi Hills, 56 West Garo Hills, 35 South West Garo Hills, 25 Ri Bhoi, 21 West Khasi Hills, 15 East Garo Hills, 15 North Garo Hills, 6 East Jaintia Hills and 5 South Garo Hills.
So far, the state has detected a total of 38,718 COVID-19 cases out of which 5,583 are active cases, 32,471 recovered and 664 deaths.
With 2,366 active COVID-19 cases, East Khasi Hills, that includes state capital Shillong, is the worst affected district in the state, followed by West Garo Hills with 709 cases and Ri Bhoi with 608 cases.
There are 557 West Jaintia Hills, 381 South West Garo Hills, 240 South West Khasi Hills, 163 West Khasi Hills, 191 East Jaintia Hills, 163 North Garo Hills, 111 East Garo Hills and 94 South Garo Hills.
