13 more die of COVID-19 in Meghalaya, toll at 727
Thirteen more persons have succumbed to COVID-19 on Saturday taking the death toll in the state to 727.
According to the Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War, 10 deaths were reported in East Khasi Hills district and 1 each in West Khasi Hills, South West Garo Hills and West Garo Hills.
The state has also recorded 501 new COVID-19 cases and with this, the total number of active cases stands at 4,871.
Dr War said the new cases include 158 in East Khasi Hills, 102 West Garo Hills, 80 Ri Bhoi, 60 West Jaintia Hills, 21 North Garo Hills, 21 East Garo Hills, 16 South West Garo Hills, 15 East Jaintia Hills, 14 South Garo Hills, 10 West Khasi Hills and 4 South West Khasi Hills.
He also informed that as many as 610 patients have also recovered from the viral infection during the past 24 hours.
Of these, 236 are from East Khasi Hills, 77 West Jaintia Hills, 61 Ri Bhoi, 58 West Garo Hills, 45 East Jaintia Hills, 34 South West Garo Hills, 30 West Khasi Hills, 23 South West Khasi Hills, 22 North Garo Hills, 19 South Garo Hills and 5 East Garo Hills.
So far, the state has detected a total of 41,601 COVID-19 cases out of which 4,871 are active cases, 36,003 recovered and 727 deaths.
With 1,790 active COVID-19 cases, East Khasi Hills, that includes state capital Shillong, is the worst affected district in the state, followed by West Garo Hills with 784 cases and 627 West Jaintia Hills.
There are 369 cases in Ri Bhoi, 240 South West Garo Hills, 260 South West Khasi Hills, 227 North Garo Hills, 112 East Jaintia Hills, 160 West Khasi Hills, 189 East Garo Hills and 113 South Garo Hills.
