132/33 KV Mawlai sub-station | Process for re-tendering of augmentation work on
Minister in-charge Power James K Sangma on Friday said at present the work for augmentation of 132/33 KV Mawlai sub-station is being kept in abeyance due to observations from the Ministry of DoNER that the state government has not followed the due procedure of competitive bidding and transparency in awarding the work in the project.
“All the work orders and supply orders have been cancelled. However, the process of re-tendering has already been initiated,” James said while replying to a query raised by Rangsakona legislator Zenith Sangma in the Assembly.
The augmentation work was sanctioned under the North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme (NESIDS).
He informed that the total sanctioned cost of the scheme is Rs 49.80 crore and sanctioned on March 8, 2019. James however said the estimate has not been revised.
Zenith has expressed concern that many contractors were not given payment even after cancellation of the work to which the minister maintained that “we do feel for the contractors but due process has to be followed.”
