137 new COVID-19 cases detected in Meghalaya
137 more persons have tested positive for COVID-19, taking the active cases in the state to 857 on Tuesday.
Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War said the new cases include 111 in East Khasi Hills district, 9 in Ri Bhoi district, 7 in West Jaintia Hills district, 4 each in West Khasi Hills district and West Garo Hills district, 1 each in South West Khasi Hills district and East Jaintia Hills district.
He informed as many as 34 patients have also recovered from the viral infection of which 26 from East Khasi Hills, 3 from Ri Bhoi, 3 West Garo Hills and 2 West Jaintia Hills.
So far, the state has detected a total of 15,116 COVID-19 cases out of which 857 are active cases, 14,105 recovered and 154 deaths.
East Khasi Hills has 618 active cases, West Jaintia Hills 119, Ri Bhoi 56, East Jaintia Hills 19, West Garo Hills 14, West Khasi Hills 22, South West Khasi Hills 7, East Garo Hills 1 and North Garo Hills 1.
On the other hand, of the 4,38,825 persons who have tested for COVID-19 in the state as on date, 4,23,709 were tested negative for the virus even as 183 persons are in institutional quarantine and 674 under home quarantine.
There are 1,07,301 entrants from outside the state.
23, 109 healthcare workers had received the first dose of Covishield vaccine and 17,160 had received the second dose, while 35,286 frontline workers got the first shot of the vaccine and 23,532 got the second dose as on Tuesday.
Moreover, 77,292 persons from among the general public were vaccinated with the first dose and 8,505 were inoculated with the second dose of the vaccine against COVID-19 across the State.
