15g heroin, 130g ganja seized; Four arrested in West Khasi Hills

Acting on inputs, four drug peddlers were arrested at Nonglang Village, West Khasi Hills District for possession of 15 grams of heroin and 130 grams of ganja on April 8.

Police said that the three peddlers namely Bryan Kharbani 29 yrs of Nongstoin, Donkerry Ryntathiang 25 yrs of New Nongstoin and Morningstar L. Rngaid 31yrs R/o Pyndengrei Mawkhmahwir village went to Assam and procured drugs and returned to Nongstoin via Langpih-Nongstoin road.

The ANTF personnel waylaid in late evening at Nonglang village and intercepted one vehicle B/R No ML 06 A 1450 used by three peddlers. During the search of the peddlers and vehicles, a total of 15 grams of Heroin and other materials like vials, syringes, mobile phones and money were recovered and seized accordingly in the presence of the independent witnesses.

Meanwhile on checking of another vehicle, driven by Kostarlin Iawphniaw (28 yrs) of Mawlai Syiem village, Eastern West Khasi Hills District, 130 grams of Ganja were recovered and seized accordingly.

Police informed that cognizable case has been registered at Nongstoin PS under relevant sections of NDPS & further investigation is on for tracking backward & forward linkages.
