16 more including 3 NEIGRIHMS doctors test positive for COVID-19 in Meghalaya
Sixteen more persons including three doctors of the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health & Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) hospital, tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday, taking the tally of active cases to 590.
Health Minister, Alexander Laloo Hek said of the 16 new cases, 11 are from East Khasi Hills that include five armed forces personnel, 3 doctors from NEIGRIHMS, 2 returnees and a staff nurse of the Shillong Civil Hospital, 2 armed forces personnel in Ri Bhoi, a driver of the Topcem cement company in East Jaintia Hills, a returnee in West Jaintia Hills and a returnee in West Garo Hills.
Hek also informed that a total of 66 patients have also recovered today taking the total recoveries to 411. 63 new recovered cases are in East Khasi Hills that include 51 BSF troopers and 12 civilians, 2 in West Garo Hills and 1 in West Garo Hills.
Of the 590 active cases in the state, the minister said 446 cases are in East Khasi Hills, 72 in Ri Bhoi, 28 in West Garo Hills, 18 in East Jaintia Hills, 16 in West Jaintia Hills, 6 in West Khasi Hills, 2 in South West Khasi Hills and 2 in South Garo Hills.
East Garo Hills and North Garo Hills are with zero cases after recovery of positive patients.
As of Friday, a total of 40, 631 samples have been sent for testing, out of which 39,008 were found to be negative while test results of 617 are awaited. There are 26,039 entrants from outside the state till date.
