19 B’deshi nationals apprehended in Meghalaya
The Border Security Force (BSF) has apprehended 19 Bangladeshi nationals including women and children from along the international border in East Khasi Hills district.
Acting on specific intelligence, BSF on Monday launched an ambush at the suspected unfenced route near Indo-Bangladesh border and observed suspicious movements of some people near the IB.
The party nabbed 19 Bangladesh nationals including 2 touts while illegally crossing through an unfenced area under BOP Rynkhua.
The apprehended persons have been identified as Mijan Miya, (46) and Md Rubel (20 yrs) – both are BD Touts, Dinesh Islam (30), Md Saji Rahman (22), Sarjah (22), Sahid Miya (25), Jahinara (23), Jorina Begum (30), Kabir Hussain (39), Nazima (26), Zamil Hussain (30), Aminul (32), Md.Inush Adil (22), Safiq (20), Md.Ishubali (20) and Md. Amununin Islam. Three are children.
All are residents of Sunamganj district, Banglafdesh.
During preliminary questioning, the apprehended BD nationals revealed before BSF that one of the apprehended BD Touts facilitated them in crossing of IB from BD to India with the intention to take them to Kashmir (India) for labour work.
The apprehended Bangladeshi nationals are being handed over to concerned police stations for further legal actions.
Sh Inderjit Singh Rana, Inspector General, BSF, Meghalaya Frontier said that troops of Meghalaya Frontier have been maintaining extra vigil at vulnerable areas of Meghalaya Border where chances of infiltration exists. He also appreciated the troops who carried out the special drive to foil the attempt of infiltration by Bangladeshi nationals.
