19 more die of COVID-19, 569 new cases detected in Meghalaya
Nineteen more persons have succumbed to COVID-19, taking the death toll to 320 on Sunday.
Of these, 16 are from East Khasi Hills district, 1 West Khasi Hills district, 1 West Garo Hills district and 1 South West Khasi Hills district, Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War said.
The state has also recorded 569 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours pushing the number of active cases to 4,534.
Dr War said new cases include 274 in East Khasi Hills, 43 West Jaintia Hills, 34 West Garo Hills, 33 West Khasi Hills, 31 South West Garo Hills, 19 East Jaintia Hills, 8 South Garo Hills, 7 South West Khasi Hills and 3 East Garo Hills.
He informed that of 354 patients who have recovered from the viral infection, 213 are from East Khasi Hills, 55 Ri Bhoi, 26 West Garo Hills, 21 West Khasi Hills, 16 East Jaintia Hills, 9 West Jaintia Hills, 6 South Garo Hills, 4 East Garo Hills and South West Garo Hills .
So far, the state has detected a total of 23,332 COVID-19 cases out of which 4,534 are active cases, 18,478 recovered and 320 deaths.
With 2,497 active COVID-19 cases, East Khasi Hills, that includes state capital Shillong is the worst affected district in the state, followed by Ri Bhoi with 651 cases.
There are 399 cases in West Garo Hills, 298 West Jaintia Hills, 187 South West Garo Hills,176 East Jaintia Hills, 153 West Khasi Hills, 66 South Garo Hills, 43 North Garo Hills, 41 East Garo Hills and 23 South West Khasi Hills.
On the other hand, of the 5,08,574 persons who have tested for COVID-19 in the state as on date, 4,85,242 were tested negative for the virus even as 864 persons are in institutional quarantine and 3,670 under home quarantine.
There are 1,18,278 entrants from outside the state.
28,072 healthcare workers had received the first dose of Covishield vaccine and 19,412 had received the second dose, while 73,937 frontline workers got the first shot of the vaccine and 26,412 got the second dose as on Sunday.
Moreover, 2,24,316 persons from among the general public were vaccinated with the first dose and 28,223 were inoculated with the second dose of the vaccine against COVID-19 across the state.
