2 arrested in Lawsohtun incident

Two persons have been arrested for their alleged involvement in attacking and assaulting five boys while they were playing basketball at Lawsohtun, Shillong.

District police chief Sylvester Nongtnger said Augustine Lyngdoh Nongpyiur and Johnson Nongkhlaw from Lawsohtun were arrested on Tuesday in connection with the incident.

Boys assaulted in Shillong

Five boys were injured after they were attacked by a group of 20 boys with iron rods, sticks and bamboo at Lawsohtun Block-VI on July 3, police said.

The victims have been idenitied as Aridam Das (22) of Laban, Subharshi Das Purkayastha (22) and Saptarshi (20) of Lastop, Pinak Deb (23) of Baraparhar and Bishal Ghosh (24) of Lachumiere.
