260 participants join ‘Freedom Unity Run’ for National Unity Day in Jowai
The office of the Deputy Commissioner of West Jaintia Hills District and the District Sports Officer in Jowai organized a ‘Freedom Unity Run’ on October 31 as part of the Fit India Swachhta Freedom Run 5.0 and National Unity Day Run (Rashtriya Ekta Diwas) initiative.
The event attracted 260 enthusiastic participants, both boys and girls, and was flagged off by EMH Passah, Working President of the West Jaintia District Sports Association, at Kiang Nangbah Stadium in Ladthadlaboh, Jowai.
In the male category, the winners were Dabit Dkhar from Sabamuswang Village, who took first place, followed by Dasaman Kyndait from the same village in second, and Daioohimitre Suting from Sohmynting Village in third. For the female category, Lamsuk Phawa from Mukhaialong Village claimed first place, while Marwa Shylla from Sabamuswang Village secured second and Himonki Khaii from Lumsyrmit Village finished third. Each winner received cash prizes and mementos in recognition of their achievements.
The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, highlighting the spirit of unity and fitness within the community. The District Sports Officer, K Passah, led the reading of a pledge, emphasizing the importance of national integration and the role of sports in promoting a healthy lifestyle.
