29 people killed in road accident since 2021 in East Jaintia Hills

The East Jaintia Hills District police on Thursday announced to penalize reckless or drunk drivers in the district after the loss of 29 lives from 2021 till date due to road accidents in the district.

Superintendent of Police East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat Jagpal Singh Dhanoa, IPS expressed grave concern over the loss of twenty one (21) precious lives due to road accidents in the year 2021 while another eight (8) precious lives have been lost to road accidents in the district this year.

He also said it has been noticed that over speeding, negligent, reckless and dangerous driving etc are major contributing factors in most of the fatal accidents.

Singh urged the general public and especially the young drivers of both four and two wheelers, not to indulge in reckless and dangerous driving, which endangers not only the lives of the drivers and passengers inside the vehicle but also puts the lives of other commuters and pedestrians at risk.

The SP informed the drivers and the general public at large, that East Jaintia Hills District Police will be conducting intensive checking drive throughout the district. He warned that those found indulging in over speeding, drunk driving, reckless and dangerous driving and any other violation of the Motor Vehicle Act would be strictly dealt as per law.
