3 arrested along with 3,700 Yaba tablets
SHILLONG: Three persons were arrested along with over 3,700 Yaba tablets from the city on Thursday.
Acting on inputs, a joint operation was launched between the Anti-Narcotic Task Force (ANTF) East Khasi Hills and Intel unit of DG Assam Rifles and arrested the accused from parking lot of Ganesh Das Pasteur Institute.
They have been identified as Soilen Hajong (38), Surendra Banai (38) and Rebecca Misao (48), district police chief Claudia A Lyngwa said here.
She said a total of 3779 tablets were seized which weigh around 385 gms from their possession.
The SP said it has come to the light that these accused were running a smuggling racket which has International dimension.
It is to be noted that Yaba tablets containing amphetamine which is banned psychotropic substance under NDPS Act.
According to her, Amphetamine is considered to be worse than heroin as there is no substitution therapy available.
A case has been registered under relevant sections of the NDPS Act.
