3 arrested, heroin seized in Shillong

Three persons including a woman were arrested along with heroin from the city on Wednesday.

Informing this in a statement issued today, East Khasi Hills district police chief Sylvester Nongtnger said 40 soap cases containing heroin weighing 431 grams was recovered and seized from a vehicle.

Acting on intelligence tip off, the ANTF team immediately swung into action and intercepted the vehicle at Umphyrnai, Dymmiew village at around 4:25 PM and detained the vehicle (MZ01 M 6507) driven by Vanlalropuia.

The vehicle was coming from Mizoram and proceeding along the highway from Khliehriat towards Mawryngkneng to deliver the consignment to a Mizo woman by the name of Vanlaltluangi.

Later, the SP said a trap was laid for the receivers of the consignment where two persons namely Vanlaltluangi and Bruno Faihriem who were moving together in a vehicle (white WagonR ML05 H 0764) were intercepted and accordingly both the persons were arrested.

A case has been registered with the Madanrting police station.
