3 die of COVID-19 in Meghalaya, toll at 174
Three more persons have died due to COVID-19, taking the death toll in the state to 174 on Saturday.
The state has also recorded yet another highest single-day spike of 262 people tested positive, taking the total number of active cases to 1,659, while 192 have recovered from the disease, pushing up the number of recoveries to 15,275, Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War said.
Dr War said the new cases include 161 in East Khasi Hills district, 38 Ri Bhoi district, 16 West Garo Hills district, 12 West Jaintia Hills district, 9 East Garo Hills district, 8 West Khasi Hills district, 8 East Jaintia Hills district, 5 South West Khasi Hills district, 4 South Garo Hills district and 1 South West Garo Hills district.
He informed that of 192 patients who have recovered from the viral infection, 135 are from East Khasi Hills, 28 West Jaintia Hills, 16 Ri Bhoi, 5 East Jaintia Hills, 4 West Garo Hills, and 4 West Khasi Hills.
So far, the state has detected a total of 17,108 COVID-19 cases out of which 1,659 are active cases, 15,275 recovered and 174 deaths.
With 1,095 active COVID-19 cases, East Khasi Hills, that includes state capital Shillong is the worst affected district in the state, followed by Ri Bhoi with 186 cases, 85 in West Jaintia Hills, 83 East Jaintia Hills, 83 West Garo Hills, 44 West Khasi Hills, 22 South West Khasi Hills, 29 East Garo Hills, 15 South Garo Hills, 6 South West Garo Hills and 11 in North Garo Hills.
On the other hand, of the 4,64,863 persons who have tested for COVID-19 in the state as on date, 4,47,755 were tested negative for the virus even as 362 persons are in institutional quarantine and 1,297 under home quarantine.
There are 1,14,561 entrants from outside the state.
25,142 healthcare workers had received the first dose of Covishield vaccine and 18,424 had received the second dose, while 45,356 frontline workers got the first shot of the vaccine and 26,428 got the second dose as on Saturday.
Moreover, 1,65,507 persons from among the general public were vaccinated with the first dose and 17,948 were inoculated with the second dose of the vaccine against COVID-19 across the State.
