3 dies of COVID-19, 192 new cases detected in Meghalaya
Three more persons have died due to COVID-19, taking the death toll in the state to 157, Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War said on Wednesday.
He said the state has also recorded 192 new COVID-19 cases, taking the active cases in the state to 1,021 on Wednesday.
The new cases include 148 in East Khasi Hills district, 30 Ri Bhoi district, 4 each in East Jaintia Hills district and West Garo Hills district, 3 each in West Jaintia Hills district and West Khasi Hills district.
Dr War informed as many as 25 patients have also recovered from the viral infection of which 17 are from East Khasi Hills district, 6 from West Jaintia Hills district, 1 from East Jaintia Hills district and 1 from Ri Bhoi district.
So far, the state has detected a total of 15,308 COVID-19 cases out of which 1,021 are active cases, 14,130 recovered and 157deaths.
East Khasi Hills is the worst affected district in the state with 746 active cases followed by West Jaintia Hills with 116 cases and Ri Bhoi district with 85 cases.
There are 25 cases in West Khasi Hills,
West Jaintia Hills 119, Ri Bhoi 56, East Jaintia Hills 19, West Garo Hills 14, West Khasi Hills 22, South West Khasi Hills 7, East Garo Hills 1 and North Garo Hills 1.
On the other hand, of the 4,41,749 persons who have tested for COVID-19 in the state as on date, 4,26,441 were tested negative for the virus even as 205 persons are in institutional quarantine and 816 under home quarantine.
There are 1,08,138 entrants from outside the state.
23, 242 healthcare workers had received the first dose of Covishield vaccine and 17,209 had received the second dose, while 35,405 frontline workers got the first shot of the vaccine and 23,693 got the second dose as on Tuesday.
Moreover, 79,992 persons from among the general public were vaccinated with the first dose and 9,113 were inoculated with the second dose of the vaccine against COVID-19 across the State.
