4 arrested for gang-raping a minor girl in Meghalaya
Four persons have been arrested for allegedly gang raping a minor girl in a village in West Jaintia Hills District, Meghalaya.
The incident, which took place on March 31, came to light after police received information that a 17-year-old girl was gang raped by the four accused persons in that village, police said.
Taking swift action, a police team immediately conducted an inquiry and rescued the girl, who was also sent for medical examination, they said.
The case was forwarded to district deputy superintendent of police (Crime), C Lyngdoh. Under her supervision, a police team led by WPSI I Kharpran launched an operation and arrested all the accused persons.

The arrested persons identified as Deibor Pasi (21), Willingson Pasi (24), Litynsuk Sungoh (20) and Ebor Sungoh (21) have been forwarded to court. A case has been registered against them under the relevant sections of the POCSO Act and investigation on the matter is under way.
This is the second gang rape case in the district, where seven persons including two juveniles were arrested on January 1, for their involvement in gang-raping a 16-year-old girl.
