4 arrested in Shillong drug bust

Four persons, including a woman were arrested in Shillong for their involvement in drug trafficking.

The arrested persons have been identified as Arneston Dkhar (35), his wife Haldora Marngar (24) of Mawlai Nongkwar Pata Rim, Shillong, Jayatai Deb (50) and Rami Juddin (30), East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police, Sylvester Nongtnger said on Tuesday.

He said the Anti Narcotic Task Force under DSP (City) B Jyrwa after receiving inputs that a drug consignment was to be bought from Guwahati to Shillong, has intercepted a vehicle (ML 05 N- 8934) at View Point Umiam Lake on Monday. The driver Jayantai Deb revealed that one bag was kept under the seat by Arneston Dkhar with the instruction to deliver the said consignment to his wife.

The consignment contained suspected heroin which weighed 25.23 gms and the same was seized.

The SP said thereafter, one small team was dispatched to apprehend the receiver of the consignment and in due course they managed to detain Haldora Marngar, wife of Arneston Dkhar at HP Petrol Pump, Mawlai.

Nongtnger informed that the team also intercepted a local taxi at Mawkynroh junction where the drug supplier Arneston Dkhar and another supplier Rami Juddin were arrested and 18 gms of suspected heroin seized from their possession.

According to him, an NDPS case has been  taken up against the arrested persons.
