5012 students failed in Meghalaya’s Class XII Arts Examination
The newly created Eastern West Khasi Hills District outshined the 11 other districts of Meghalaya in the Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) Arts Examination with a pass percentage of 91.64%, which is 9 % higher than overall pass percentage of the State of 80.30%.
A total of 730 students appeared in the examination from Eastern West Khasi Hills District and 669 of them cleared the board and only 61 of them failed.
Out of the grand total of 25437 students who appeared for the HSSLC Arts Examination conducted in March this year, 20425 of them passed the examination while 5012 students did not cleared the Board.

In West Khasi Hills District, the pass percentage is second highest in the State with 90.96 % where 1128 apppeared and 1026 passed. There were 8640 students who appeared and 7770 of them passed in East Khasi Hills District and the pass percentage stand at 89.23%.
Ri Bhoi District had 2249 students and 1980 of them passed thereby giving a pass percentage of 88.64%. 722 students appeared while 554 passed in South West Khasi Hills District and the pass percentage was calculated at 76.83%.
West Jaintia Hills District had 2929 students and 2386 of them cleared the Board and the pass percentage is 81.46%. East Jaintia Hills District with 71.79% had the lowest pass percentage in Khasi Jaintia region where 603 students passed out of 840.

The five districts in Garo Hills Region also performed fairly good in the HSSLC Arts Examination this year.
West Garo Hills District secured 66.80% as 4114 students appeared and 2748 of them cleared the Board. The pass percentage is 49.23 in South Garo Hills District as only 353 out of 717 students were declared successful.
East Garo Hills District had 1208 students but 905 of them got through the Board and the pass percentage was 74.92.
North Garo Hills District secured 65.15 % pass percentage as 774 students out of 1188 were successful in the examination. Last but not the least,South West Garo Hills had 972 students and out of which 669 passed and the pass percentage stands at 67.59%.
