51 civilians among 64 new COVID-19 cases in Meghalaya, tally at 1,292
Sixty-four, including 51 civilians, have tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday, taking the total active cases in the state to 690.
Director of Health Services (MI), Dr Aman War said 34 cases were detected from West Garo Hills district that include 26 civilians and 8 Border Security Force (BSF) troopers, 19 including 16 civilians, 2 BSF troopers and 1 Armed Force were from East Khasi Hills district, 9 civilians from Ri Bhoi district and 2 CRPF from North Garo Hills.
He also informed that 15 more patients have recovered from the infection, of which 10 civilians from West Jaintia Hills, 2 civilians and 1 Armed Force from Ri Bhoi, 1 BSF from West Garo Hills and 1 civilian from South Garo Hills. With this, he said the total recoveries in the state has increased to 596.
East Khasi Hills has the highest number of COVID-19 cases at 438 which include 279 civilians, 87 BSF and 72 Armed Forces personnel followed by West Garo Hills with 135 cases and Ri Bhoi with 89 cases.
In the other districts, North Garo HIlls has 8 cases, West Jaintia Hills 6, East Jaintia HIlls 5, West Khasi Hils 3, South West Garo Hills 3, South Garo Hills 2 and South West Khasi Hills 1.
East Garo Hills is with zero cases.
The state has so far recorded a total of 1,292 COVID-19 positive cases of which 640 are active and 6 have died due to the disease.
