59 civilians among 64 new COVID-19 cases in Meghalaya
Sixty-four more persons,including 59 civilians, have tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday morning, taking the total number of active cases in the state to 1211.
Director of Health Services (MI), Dr Aman War said 29 cases, all civilians, have been detected from East Khasi Hills district, 27 from East Garo Hills district, 2 from South West Garo Hills district, 1 from South Garo Hills district, 4 BSF troopers from West Garo Hills district and 1 BSF from North Garo Hills district.
He also informed that 21 more persons from East Khasi Hills (4 BSF), Ri Bhoi (10), West Jaintia Hills (1), North Garo Hills (4), South Garo Hills (2) – have recovered from the viral infection today, taking the total recoveries in the state to 895.
East Khasi Hills has the highest number of active cases with 847 which includes 564 civilians and 283 Armed Forces/Paramilitary Forces, followed by West Garo Hills with 176 cases and 68 cases in Ri Bhoi.
In the other districts, West Khasi Hills has 43 cases, 2 in West Jaintia Hills, 12 in East Jaintia Hills, 3 in South West Garo Hills, 11 in South Garo Hills, 39 in East Garo Hills and 10 in North Garo Hills.
