After an exciting series of league games that kicked off on January 11, the highly anticipated Football competition in the 5th Meghalaya Games is now advancing to its final rounds. The Final rounds are scheduled to be held on January 18-19 at the P.A Sangma Football Stadium, Tura.

In the Men’s category, East Khasi Hills will face off against Ri Bhoi, while West Jaiñtia Hills is set to take on West Garo Hills.

To elevate the standards of the games, the final rounds will shift from Chandmari Football Field, an artificial synthetic turf, to the P.A Sangma Football Stadium – a natural grass turf.

The semifinals are scheduled for Thursday, and the final matches for both men and women will unfold on Saturday.

It’s worth noting that the football competition is exclusively open to players under the age of eighteen (18) years. However, in the Men’s category, North Garo Hills was unable to field a team, and in the Women’s category, both North Garo Hills and South Garo Hills did not participate, resulting in 11 Districts competing in the Men’s category and 10 in the Women’s category.
