6th Meghalaya Games torch completes 360 km journey, reaches West Jaintia Hills
The ceremonial torch of the 6th Meghalaya Games 2025 has successfully completed a 360 km journey, travelling from Tura and Shillong, and was officially handed over to the host district West Jaintia Hills, Jowai, on Monday. The torch is now placed at Loomkyrwiang Iungwalieh Dorbar Hall and is available for public viewing.
A ceremonial rally started from Hyperfuse Café, Chahtngit, travelling through Iawmusiang, Mission Compound, and Lumkywiang, accompanied by athlete Heimonki Khaii and golfer Jason Kerchwami Passah.
Tomorrow, 21 January 2025, at 2:00 PM, the torch will be ceremoniously taken to the inaugural venue at Wahiajer, marking the start of the much-awaited Meghalaya Games.
Local MLA and Chairman of MUDA Wailadmiki Shylla, Working President John F. Kharshiing, Vice President of MSOA and Chairperson of the Reception Committee of State Level, Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya Matsiewdor War Nongbri, General Secretary of MSOA F. Pariat, and Rangbah Shnong Lumkywiang Lammat oo Laloo were also present at the ceremony.
