9 services to hospital without government funding in Shillong
The Meghalaya’s Health Minister, A. L. Hek, inaugurated new services at Shillong’s Reid Provincial Chest Hospital, on Tuesday. On the same day, a brief ceremony was held to commemorate the hospital’s two-year implementation of the MHIS – PMJAY system.
The Health Minister informed that the funds to purchase these technologies for the 9 new services were raised through MHIS rather than relying on government funding.
Megha Health Insurance Scheme (MHIS) – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) is a universal health insurance scheme in Meghalaya that provides health insurance to all individuals of the state, excluding state and central government employees. It provides floater coverage of up to Rs 5,00,000 per family, with no restrictions on family size or age. |
The services which were inaugurated during the day are the High Dependency Unit (TB),
High Dependency Unit (Non-TB), Casualty Ward, State of the art X-ray Department, Renovated PMJAY Wards, CCTV Monitoring System, Hospital Management Software System, Bronchoscopy Center and Truenat Room.
A. L. Hek commends the hospital’s doctors and staff for their efforts in creating a positive environment for the patients, which will give them renewed hope in continuing their treatment. He presented awards to the staff’s dedicated services during the Covid-19 pandemic.
He also added that the hospital acted as a Corona Care Centre when the virus was rampant last year.
Others who spoke during the programme were Dr A Warr, DHS (MI), Dr J Lakiang, Medical Superintendent R.P. Chest Hospital and Dr B Thangkhiew, Additional MS R.P. Chest Hospital.
