97 new COVID-19 cases detected in Meghalaya
Ninety-seven more persons have tested positive for COVID-19, taking the tally of active cases in the state up to 457 on Wednesday.
Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War said the new cases include 93 in East Khasi Hills district and 2 each in West Jaintia Hills district and Ri Bhoi district.
He informed 3 patients have also recovered from the viral infection and all are from East Khasi Hills district.
So far, the state has detected a total of 14,582 COVID-19 cases out of which 457 are active cases, 13,974 recovered and 151 deaths.
East Khasi Hills has 360 active cases, West Jaintia Hills 58, Ri Bhoi 23, West Garo Hills 5, East Jaintia Hills 6, West Khasi Hills 4 and South West Khasi Hills 1.
On the other hand, of the 4,29,358 persons who have tested for COVID-19 in the state as on date, 4,14,776 were tested negative for the virus even as 111 persons are in institutional quarantine and 346 under home quarantine.
There are 1,04,061 entrants from outside the state.
On the other hand, 22, 781 healthcare workers had received the first dose of Covishield vaccine and 16,571 had received the second dose, while 33,823 frontline workers got the first shot of the vaccine and 21,906 got the second dose as on Tuesday.
Moreover, 65,637 persons from among the general public were vaccinated with the first dose and 5,907 were inoculated with the second dose of the vaccine against COVID-19 across the State.
