Meghalaya Govt to take up with Centre for immediate inclusion of Khasi language in 8th Schedule
Minister in-charge Arts & Culture and MDA spokesperson Paul Lyngdoh on Saturday said a delegation of the state government will soon visit Delhi to pursue with the Centre for immediate inclusion of the Khasi language in the Eighth Schedule to the Constitution of India.
Lyngdoh told reporters that the state Assembly had adopted a resolution recommending very strongly for inclusion of the Khasi language in the Eighth Schedule to the Constitution.
“This time around, we also plan to visit Delhi and meet all the concerned ministers including the prime minister in order to push for the demand for inclusion of Khasi language to its logical end,” he said.
On the delay to implement the inner line permit (ILP) in Meghalaya, the minister said that this matter is also hanging fire.
“It was under the consideration of the MHA and has also gone to the parliament. This will also form part of the agenda when we visit Delhi which will happen very shortly,” he said.
