A 6 year old child from Bangladesh successfully operated upon in NEIGRIHMS

A team of doctors headed by Dr. Bhaskar Borgohain, HOD Orthopaedics operated upon a 6 year old child from Bangladesh on February 17.

The child was suffering from a very rare skeletal dysplasia called Trevor’s Disease (Dysplasia Epiphysealis Hemimelica). While giving a brief to the Director NEIGRIHMS, Prof. (Dr.) Bhaskar Borgohain said that the child had a tumour like Exophytic mass (lying critically close to the popliteal vessel and nerves), which was mechanically restricting his knee movement.

The tumour like mass was successfully excised through the cleavage line delineated by MRI before surgery. The child who had come to NEIGRIHMS on Medical Visa has uneventful recovery.
