A 70-yr-old COVID-19 patient dies, after collapsing inside a toilet
A 70-year-old mentally challenged man, who tested positive for COVID-19, died after he collapsed inside a bathroom on Wednesday morning.
Director of Health Services (MI), Dr Aman War said the elderly person identified as Rajendra Shah from 29-Cantonment, Anjalee had collapsed in a bathroom at his residence.
“The patient, who was mentally challenged, was taken to the Civil Hospital, Shillong at around 3.30 pm where doctors there have declared him brought dead,” Dr War informed.
He said Shah was tested positive for COVID-19 at the Anjalee testing centre on August 21. Since the patient was without any symptoms, he was undergoing home isolation.
Asked, Dr War said the health department will however take a call on whether the case will be counted as a COVID death, tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the state so far has recorded a total of 8 deaths due to the viral infection.
