A brilliant Century from Raj Biswa NFU through to the Final of the Shillong League Super Division

SHILLONG: The 1st Semi Final of the Shillong League Super Division was played between NFU CC and Sputnik Spartans which was organized by the Shillong Cricket Association at polo Cricket ground.

It was an innings match where Sputnik Spartans won the toss and elected to bat first.

Sputnik Spartans managed to put 126 all out in 45.1overs on the board on Day 1 of their 1st inning. Lakhan Singh made 30 runs off 51 balls and Prashant Ojha 21off  61 balls. R Biswa  took 3 wkts in 10 overs giving away  34 runs and Akash  Choudhary 2 wkts  31 runs in 15 overs for NFU.

NFU came to bat and put up a  total of 203/ 2 in 44 overs  on day 1 of their 1st innings.   Raj Biswa made a brilliant century of 140 runs off just 123 balls  along with Purojit Mondal 39 runs off 117 balls giving a substantiate lead for NFU. Lakhan Singh and Arbind Singh took 1wkt a piece at the end of play.

Resuming the total score of 203/2 on Day 2, NFU end their 1st innings score of 289 all out. A cameo knock of 41 off 53 balls from Asif Khan helps to put a score of 289 for NFU. Arabind Singh took 6 wkts from 31 overs and Lakhan Singh 3 wkts from 14.2 overs for the Spartans.

The Spartans came to bat for their 2nd Inning and managed to score 209/10 till the end of play.  Uttam Chanda made 65 runs off 121 balls,  Sanvish Charak 30 runs off 36 balls and  Vishal Konwar 27 run off 35 balls.Raj Biswa  took 4wkts in 21 overs while  Akash Choudhary in 15.0 overs took 3 wkts and Ricky  3 wkts in 13.1 overs for NFU.

Match ends in a draw but by virtue of their 1st inning’s lead NFU qualified for the final of Super League 2019.
