A migrant worker stabbed by miscreants in Shillong
A migrant worker was injured after he was stabbed by miscreants in Shillong on Thursday afternoon.
The incident has taken place at around 2 pm at Mawkhar near YMCA.
Assistant Inspector General of Police (A) GK Iangrai informed that one Sanidul Islam (21) of Barpeta, Assam was stabbed in Mawkhar by unknown miscreants.
He said the victim has been admitted to male surgical ward in Shillong civil hospital. “The victim received head and abdomen injuries and is reportedly out of danger,” Iangrai said.
The incident has also taken place at a time when the state capital is slowly limping back to normalcy even as the district administration has relaxed curfew hours including Iewduh market and police bazaar areas.
Earlier, 29-year-old Rupchand Dewan, a resident of Barpeta, was stabbed to death and nine others were injured in the stabbing spree incidents.
The stabbing incident is seen as a retaliatory attack following the death of a Khasi Students’ Union activist after being attacked by non-tribals at Ichamati village near Shella in East Khasi Hills district on February 28.
Iangrai informed that the situation in the state is normal and under close watch. He said mobile internet has been restored in all districts from 10 am today.
