A sick COVID-19 treated successfully in NEIGRIHMS

Amidst the rising COVID-19 cases in our state we do have few good news. A 58 years old senior government official, a returnee from another state was referred to NEIGRIHMS from Civil Hospital, Shillong on 13.07.2020, as a case of fever and breathlessness (acute respiratory distress), a statement issued by the hospital PRO said here.

He is a known diabetic on insulin therapy and a known hypertensive. On admission his RT-PCR was positive for COVID-19 and his CT scan showed features of covid lung damage, it said.

He was admitted in the high dependent unit (HDU) and treated conservatively with Oxygen, Low molecular weight heparin (LMWH), dexamethasone and antibiotics. His condition improved and transferred to covid isolation ward when asymptomatic the medications were stopped on 1.08.2020.  He remained asymptomatic was discharged today after his last two RT-PCR’s became negative, the statement said
