On Tuesday, Khaleque met Congress general secretary KC Venugopal in Delhi, after he resigned from the party.
Following his meeting with Sonia Gandhi, Khaleque, said: “I wish to state that I had tendered my resignation on March 15 due to non-addressal of my grievances by the APCC president and and AICC in charge of the state. But I am glad that the central leadership of the party reached out to me because of which I could have a fruitful discussion with KC Venugopal ji, and later had the blessing of our honourable CPP chairperson Sonia Gandhi ji.”
“As a sitting Lok Sabha member and two-times MLA I understand the situation in the country. It is the duty and responsibility of every democratic and progressive person to strengthen the democratic forces,” Khaleque said.
