ABVP organizes Tiranga rallies across Meghalaya to mark India’s 78th Independence Day
On the occasion of India’s 78th Independence Day, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) organized a series of Tiranga Rallies across Meghalaya, marked by patriotic fervour and unity.
In Nongpoh, the rally, organized by the ABVP Nongpoh Unit on August 14, saw the participation of over 200 students, youth, and citizens from different walks of life. They carried a 75-meter-long national flag through the main thoroughfare of Nongpoh Town, starting from Ri Bhoi College Road and concluding at the District Sports Office.
The participants chanted slogans promoting national unity and pride, reflecting the rally’s aim to instill a sense of responsibility and patriotism among the youth. The rally attended by Meghalaya BJYM President Mewaker Lyngdoh, ABVP State Secretary Tengku M. Marak, and Central Working Committee member Nibiang Sumer and other BJYM leaders Marian MAriang and Prahlad Toor.
In Jowai, a Tiranga Rally was held on August 15, 2024, beginning from Iaw Thymme Ladthalaboh at 7:00 AM and concluding at the District Library. The event was led by ABVP Jowai Town Unit President Tiplem Sumer and NEC member Delis Shylla, with over 200 participants carrying the 75-meter-long Tiranga. Social activist Wanbun Dkhar was present as a special guest. The rally focused on inspiring the youth to actively contribute to the nation’s progress while promoting the spirit of nationalism.
Similarly, in Shillong on August 15, 2024, the ABVP Shillong Unit organized a grand Tiranga Rally, with more than 200 people marching under the leadership of State Joint Secretary Bomsing Khongtir and Central Working Committee member Nibiang Sumer. The participants carried the tricolor through the streets in a powerful display of patriotism, symbolizing the strength and unity of the nation.
These rallies, organized across various locations in Meghalaya, highlighted the collective spirit of the people, celebrating the nation’s Independence while promoting national pride and unity among the younger generation.
