Accused person arrested for murder of 2 females not from Nongrim Hills
The dorbar of Nongrim Hills has categorically denied that the prime accused arrested in the recent murder of two persons in Nongstoin was a resident of the locality.
In a statement issued here, headman of Nongrim Hills Bantylli L Narry said there is no such person by the name of Bankhraw Kupar Nongbri who resides or stay in the locality.
He however said that the accused was only a visitor of his close friend, a female who stays with her family in Nongrim Hills.
The clarification was given after the police had claimed that the accused person hailed from Nongrim Hills.
“Unfortunately, that fateful day the August 24, he came to her house with blood stained in his clothes and the same has been confiscated by the Nongstoin police in my presence on the search operation conducted by them and on August 25. On the 26th the accused himself was brought to trace the mobile phones of the victims for which he had dumped on the stream at the backyard of the house…,” the headman said.
“Therefore, the news item is misleading and false information and it will also tarnish the image of the Locality and such news information will only disgrace the locality and the Dorbar regrets of such information,” he said while requesting the concerned authority to be cautious in giving such statement in the future.
On Monday night, a 79-year-old woman and her maid were allegedly murdered at Nongstoin village in West Khasi Hills District.
The victims have been identified as Phlesis Syiem (79) and her maid Maitlynti Lyngdoh Marshillong (25).
According to police, the perpetrator of the crime had locked the house from outside after committing the murder.
