Acharya lauds SPIC MACAY’s role in preserving classical music at Cotton University event

Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya attended the SPIC MACAY Classical Series 2025 at Cotton University on Monday, where he praised the organization’s relentless efforts in preserving and promoting Indian classical music and culture among the youth. The event featured a mesmerizing performance by legendary flautist Padma Vibhushan Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, leaving the audience captivated.
Addressing the gathering, Governor Acharya highlighted the global recognition of India’s cultural heritage, emphasizing that classical music, dance, and art are powerful symbols of the nation’s identity. “Music transcends linguistic and religious barriers, fostering unity across India,” he remarked.
The Governor lauded SPIC MACAY for inspiring millions of young minds by introducing them to India’s rich traditions. He commended the organization’s ambitious goal of ensuring that every student in the country experiences Indian classical music and art by 2030.
Acharya also acknowledged Dr. Kiran Seth, the founder of SPIC MACAY, for his lifelong dedication to cultural preservation, calling his contributions a guiding force in promoting classical art forms.

The event was attended by several distinguished guests, including Cotton University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ramesh Deka, SPIC MACAY Guwahati Chapter President Mausumi Barua, and other eminent dignitaries.
With the SPIC MACAY Classical Series 2025 setting the stage for cultural appreciation, the event reinforced the importance of passing India’s artistic legacy to future generations.
