ACHIK demands appointment of pro VC for NEHU Tura campus

The Achik Conscious Holistically Integrated Krima (ACHIK) on Monday demanded the immediate appointment of a pro vice chancellor for Tura campus of the North Eastern Hill University (NEHU).

In a letter to the NEHU VC, the ACHIK said, “(We) respectfully urge the immediate appointment of a pro vice chancellor dedicated to the Tura campus of NEHU. The absence of a pro VC at the Tura campus has resulted in significant administrative and operational challenges that impact both faculty and students, undermining the university’s mission to deliver high-quality education across all campuses.”

It also stated that the presence of a pro VC at the Tura campus is essential for the following reasons which include to facilitate timely decision-making that addresses the unique needs and challenges of the campus, the proximity of a pro VC would ensure that student concerns, academic programs and faculty requirements are addressed more effectively etc.

The pro VC would bridge NEHU with the local community, promoting engagement and collaboration that reflect the university’s commitment to regional representation and inclusivity and development projects can be overseen more closely, ensuring that resources are allocated efficiently and that the Tura campus grows in alignment with NEHU’s broader vision, the ACHIK asserted.
