A’chik group demands primary school in North Garo Hills
The A’chik State Peoples’ Front (ASPF) has urged Meghalaya education minister Rakkam Sangma for the renovation of Chiramgre Govt LP School under Bajengdoba C&RD Block in North Garo Hills district.
In a memorandum to the minister through the deputy commissioner of North Garo Hills, the ASPF said the school is currently facing severe infrastructure issues, including a dilapidated condition and a leaking tin roof. The leaking roof has caused significant disruptions to the educational environment, especially during the rainy monsoon season.
“As a result, conducting classes becomes extremely challenging, as rainwater seeps into the classrooms, forcing interruptions in the learning process. It is worth mentioning that the half-yearly exam couldn’t be conducted at the scheduled date and time due to continuous rain for one week, the exam was held the following week,” it said in the memorandum.
The ASPF said the situation hampers the students’ ability to receive an uninterrupted and effective education.
“We believe that addressing the renovation of the school is crucial to ensure that the students have a safe and conducive learning environment. Therefore, we implore you to promptly consider and allocate resources for the renovation of Chiramgre Govt LP School. Your swift action in this matter would be immensely appreciated by the entire community,” it added.
