Activist slams Dy CM for his remark on GHADC rules
Garo Hills-based social activist has slammed Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong for his statement that non-tribals are allowed to participate in the election process as per rules of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC).
“Your statement is dividing Meghalaya. Tynsong, I thought you are the son of the soil and the deputy chief minister of the state but your language says you are only deputy chief minister of Khasi & Jaintia Hills,” Greneth M Sangma said in a statement issued on Saturday.
Sangma also reminded that Tynsong is not a first time MLA and asked, “What you have been doing all these years if you think there are loopholes in the Constitution of GHADC and it needs amendment.”
He also added, “Tomorrow if you lose in the power tussle, as an opposition you will start shouting in favour of these things, and you call it “politics” and the people call it “opportunist”.”
Tynsong had earlier maintained that the AD Rules of the GHADC cannot be changed overnight.
The social activist said that what Meghalaya needs today is a statesman and not a power hungry politician like the deputy chief minister.
“If you still think you are correct, then you do your duty as deputy chief minister to ratify the Constitution…My humble advice would be try to show maturity, statesmanship and not a mere Politician for five years term,” Sangma added.
