Adopt new methods of cultivation to increase productivity: Shullai

JOWAI: The office of the District Horticulture, West Jaintia Hills organised a one day exhibition to help farmers’ exhibits their products at Jrisalein Playground, Chutwakhu, Jowai.

Andrew Shullai , MDC, JHADC was the chief Guest and Smt. R.S Manners, MCS, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Jowai was the guest of honour on the function.

Shullai lauded the Horticulture Department for organizing such an exhibition, a platform for the farmers to showcase their products and at the same time interact with other farmers and the officers of the department.

He encouraged the farmers to embrace changes and adopt new methods of cultivation to increase their agricultural productivity.B.M Majaw, District Horticulture Officer, Jowai in her keynote address spoke on the importance of Bees and its ability to increase pollination in agricultural field and also contributes to the beautification of the floral.

W.Marbaniang, District Agriculture Officer, Jowai, Officer from KVK, Officer and staffs from Horticulture and Agriculture were also present. A vote of Thanks was offered by Shri. C.Najar, Assistant Director of Horticulture, WJHs.
