Advantage Assam 2.0: Pioneering a healthcare revolution for a healthier future
The Advantage Assam 2.0 – Investment & Infrastructure Summit 2025 marked a milestone in Assam’s healthcare transformation with the “Health Horizons: Transformation of the Health Sector” session. This landmark discussion reinforced Assam’s commitment to revolutionizing healthcare through innovation, infrastructure enhancement, and strategic public-private partnerships.
The session commenced with a welcome address by Health Commissioner Sidharth Singh, who set the stage for an insightful dialogue on healthcare challenges and opportunities in the state.
Assam Health Minister Ashok Singhal outlined the government’s ambitious vision to expand healthcare accessibility, modernize infrastructure, and accelerate digital health initiatives. He emphasized that Assam is not only strengthening patient care but is also poised to become a hub for alternative medicine. Over the next three to five years, the state’s private healthcare sector will undergo significant transformation.
The session featured three compelling discussions, moderated by Dr. P. Ashok Babu, Commissioner & Secretary, Health and Family Welfare, Assam. Each panel brought together distinguished industry leaders to share key insights on patient care & growth opportunities.

ASSOCHAM chairman Dr. Sanjive Narain emphasized that public-private partnerships are essential in strengthening healthcare delivery and ensuring universal healthcare coverage.
Tamay Saksena, COO, Tata 1mg highlighted Assam’s business-friendly environment and reiterated Tata 1mg’s commitment to affordable healthcare access for all.
Azadar Khan, vice president, Sun Pharma acknowledged Assam’s investment-friendly policies, citing Sun Pharma’s investment growth from Rs 300 crore in 2018 to Rs 800 crore to date.
Arjun Arunachalam, CEO, Voxel Technologies advocated for hiring local talent from smaller towns and traditional institutes, emphasizing cost-effectiveness and long-term sustainability.
Dr. Anurag Varshey, president (PAN India), Drug Discovery, Patanjali Ayurved highlighted Ayurveda and preventive healthcare as crucial to holistic well-being. He proposed using the term “health-seekers” instead of “patients” to promote a proactive mindset.
Prof. Anandraman Sharma P.V., Medical Superintendent, All India Institute of Ayurveda advocated for integrating traditional and modern medicine to build a comprehensive healthcare ecosystem.
The session also featured an interactive Q&A, where Health Minister Ashok Singhal addressed queries on healthcare innovation, infrastructure expansion, and patient-centred care.
