Agatha chairs DC&MC meeting in Tura
The Member of Parliament and Chairman, Agatha Sangma chaired the day long District Coordination & Monitoring Committee (DISHA) Meeting held today at Circuit House, Tura.
Chairperson, Meghalaya State Council for Climate Change and Sustainable Development and MLA Selsella LAC, Ferlin C A Sangma, MLA Phulbari LAC, E Mominin, MLA Barengapara, Brening Sangma, Members of the Committee, Lonarson Sangma, Silme Marak, Deputy Commissioner, Ram Singh were among others who attended the meeting.
In her introductory remark, Agatha Sangma stated that this is the first Disha meeting held this year since it could not be held earlier due to Covid-19 situation adding that many flagship programmes also have faced various challenges and issues, she said. Therefore, she urged all the line departments to incorporate the covid-19 as well while discussing the programmes and how to cope up with the present situation during the time of implementation of the schemes in the district.
Mentioning that the Disha meeting is being held to ensure effective development and coordination of Central Government’s programme and monitor the implementation of schemes and programmes in a time bound manner, the West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Ram Singh urged all the departments to address their challenges and any other issues in this forum since here it is being addressed to the highest level of Government and also advised to work in convergence with various line departments for the progress and development in the region.
During the presentation of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS), Ferlin Sangma enquired about the low performance of Selsella Block comparing to the performance of other blocks in the district for which the concerned official informed that the performance was low due to two time floods which occurred this year and with regard to the previous years there had been issues related to the bifurcation with Demdemma block and few other disputes.
Meanwhile, during the presentation of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin) PMAY(G) which is the Rural Housing Scheme, the Member of the Parliament observed that there were many incomplete PMAY(G) houses in the district for which the Deputy Commissioner, Ram Singh replied that the district have not received any funds from the Centre adding that they received funds for the financial year 2016-2017 recently and informed that the West Garo Hills district has the highest number of beneficiaries compared to other districts.
A power point presentation was also made on the status of schemes and projects comprising of National Social Assistance Programme (NASP), National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM),Deen Dayal Upadhyay-Gramin Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY), Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), Swacch Bharat Mission (SBM), Swacch Bharat Mission –Gramin (SBM-G), National Rural Drinking Water Programme (NRDWP), Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana (PMKSY), Integrated Watershed Management Programme (IWMP), National Health Mission (NHM), Sarva Siksha Abhiyan (SSA), Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS), Midday Meal Scheme, Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS), Implementation of Food Security Act and Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) by concerned departments and threadbare discussion held thereafter.
