Agitational programme in any form prohibited in East Khasi Hills

With the imposition of Model Code of Conduct in view of the general Assembly to 23-Sohiong (ST) Assembly Constituency scheduled on 10th May 2023, the District Magistrate & District Election Officer, East Khasi Hills District has prohibited any sort of agitational programme in any form, by any individual or organization in the East Khasi Hills District.

The order issued under Section 144 CrPC in view of the information received that agitation programmes like hunger strike, procession, rally etc, is being organised by some organisation (s) in the District and that such agitation programmes if held, is likely to create Law and Order problem, breach of peace and tranquility resulting to loss of life and property.

The order shall come into force with immediate effect and remain in force until further orders.
