Agitational programme in any prohibited in East Khasi Hills District

The District Magistrate and District Election Officer East Khasi Hills District prohibited any sort of agitational programme in any form, by any individual or organization in the East Khasi Hills District under Section 144 CrPC.

According to an official order, the Election Commission of India has announced date of polling for Meghalaya on 27th February next.

Further, the Model Code of Conduct and other instructions of the Election Commission have become operative in the State after the announcement of elections.

However, information has been received that agitation programmes like hunger strike, procession, rally, etc. is being organized by some organization (s) in the District.
