Aid extended to flood and landslide affected people in Siju

The South Garo Hills District had witnessed devastating floods and multiple landslides in many areas like Siju, Maheskola and neighbouring villages that had left a trail of destruction everywhere with most of the families losing their homes and practically everything that they have.  On this spontaneous note, a relief operation for the inhabitants of Rain ravaged Siju, completely cut off, was organized through social media platforms like facebook, whatsapp, etc.

The A’chik Heritage Pursuits (AHP) is one among the group who had organized the relief operation and have expressed their gratitude and acknowledgement to all those who had donated generously for the noble cause including the Dobasipara Baptist Church, A’dingre prayer cell, Tura Baptist Church and the Chimik Women’s group for their valuable contributions. The AHP informed that a total sum of Rs. 88500/- (eighty eight thousand five hundred only) was collected within a span of 24 hours besides materials. The balance sum of Rs. 31,000/- (thirty one thousand only) was handed over.

The group had also mentioned that individual teams, Team Rongram Block, were at the site ferrying essential rations.
