AITC condemns Govt for mistreating protesting teachers
Opposition All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) state president Charles Pyngrope on Thursday condemned the MDA government for mistreating the protesting teachers.
Pyngrope said it was very sad to hear about the incident that took place outside the secretariat where teachers and their families were protesting.
Police fired tear gas at the protesting contractual teachers, who took out a protest march to the secretariat to demand for immediate reinstatement of their services.

“I feel that the government should have behaved or acted in a more humane manner in dealing with such situations; especially, when the families of the teachers were also present. This action of the government is deplorable, to say the least. My heart goes out to the families of the teachers and their children who had to go through this trauma of being tear-gassed by the police. I would like to see that such actions in future do not occur irrespective of the situation that is created,” he said.
