AJP-VPP holds historic meet in Guwahati, to float regional platform soon
In its effort to float a united platform of Northeast regional political parties, Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) on Monday held a crucial meeting with Voice of the People Party (VPP) MP Dr. Ricky Andrew J Syngkon in Guwahati to initiate an effort to strengthen regional cooperation.
The meeting discussed common issues affecting Assam and Meghalaya, and to explore the formation of a regional democratic front for the North Eastern states of India.
The meeting, attended by AJP president Lurin Jyoti Gogoi, general secretary Jagadish Bhuyan and senior leaders, aimed to foster greater cooperation and collaboration between the two states on issues such as economic development, cultural exchange, and social welfare.
“We are thrilled to initiate this dialogue with the Voice of the People’s Party from Meghalaya,” said LurinJyoti Gogoi after the meeting.
“Our shared history, culture, and geography make it imperative for us to work together to address the unique challenges facing our region,” Gogoi said.
The MP from Shillong, Dr Ricky Andrew J. Syngkon was felicitated by the AJP president and other leaders of the party.
The parties agreed to continue discussions and explore possibilities for a regional democratic front, ensuring a brighter future for the people of Assam, Meghalaya, and the entire Northeast.
On July 18, the AJP and the Citizen Action Party of Sikkim (CAPS) have announced their collaboration to work in unison for the greater interest of the indigenous people in the northeastern states.
In a meeting held at Hotel Gateway Grandway in Guwahati, leaders of the two parties also decided to float a common platform for regional political parties of the Northeast.
