All MDCs, employees in KHADC to be vaccinated: Chyne
The Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) has decided that all MDCs and employees should be vaccinated against COVID-19.
After chairing the meeting of the executive committee on Friday, KHADC chief Titosstarwell Chyne told reporters that the EC has decided to write to the Deputy Commissioner for immediate setting up of a vaccination camp at the premises of the Council.
“(We want) all MDCs and employees of the Council to take the vaccination provided by the health department,” he said.
He informed that the EC has decided to allow people to visit the KHADC only twice a week (Tuesday and Thursday).
“People have to mandatorily take prior appointments if they want to meet the CEM, EMs, Chairmen or members of the Council,” he said while adding the attendance of employees has been reduced to 33 percent.
Chyne said the KHADC also appealed to all traditional heads to encourage the citizens to get vaccinated so that they will be protected from COVID-19 infection.
“We also urged all the respective villages to be vigilant and ensure the SOPs issued by the government are strictly followed to contain the spread of the virus,” he said.
The KHADC chief also suggested the state government to refrain from imposing lockdown as it will affect the livelihood of the people at large.
