Ampareen Lyngdoh inspires students to pursue UPSC dreams
Cabinet Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh has encouraged the students of the state to gear up to crack the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and to have experts on policy making.
She was speaking at the closing ceremony of the Golden Jubilee celebration of Seng Khasi College on Monday held at the campus of the college.
“We need our citizens to aspire to be able to crack the IAS, those of you who have that in you, work, let us have more indigenous IAS officers, let us have experts from among ourselves so that we know how to generate policies which will be designed for us and away from the mainstream practice of painting India with one brush,” she said.
She went on to say that individuals are needed to man the North Eastern Hill University, to have doctors, specialists, nurses, and other paramedical forces.
Lyngdoh said, “Today, we feel threatened that in the 21st century, we still do not have the freedom of education to allow our states and their communities to grow and to gain knowledge and to record knowledge for future generations.”
On the other hand, Lyngdoh hits out at the “agencies” who she alleged are putting the state down.
She said, “I would say sometimes when you look at some of the indicators that agencies present the state of Meghalaya. They always like to put us down. I have travelled the length and breadth in the state of Meghalaya. I am not an individual who just sits in one place. Let me tell you, we have achieved much. Yes, we continue to be challenged, but we will continue to work hard. Do not lose faith in your own government.”
