Ampareen urges MDA Govt to speed up peace talks with HNLC
Suspended Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Ampareen Lyngdoh on Wednesday urged the MDA government to ensure that the peace talks with the proscribed Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) materialized at the earliest.
Speaking to media persons, Lyngdoh said that peace talk with the HNLC is the long pending dreams of the people of Khasi and Jaintia Hills region.
She said they have seen that there have been banned outfits across the state and there has been redressal on their issues on the other part of the state.
“Our part of the state longs to see that these peace talks will result well, will give us peace, will give us no tension and we will see our people come and live a respectable and responsible life. (However), it is very heartbreaking to see that for years these talks have been left pending,” Lyngdoh said.
Lauding the chief minister Conrad K Sangma for taking the initiative to start the process of peace talks with the HNLC, the suspended Congress leader said, “And if he (CM) should so wish that we lend support and lend ideas to ensuring that this peace talks materializes productively, we will give him all our support.”
“We want peace and we would like to see the younger generation of our communities see the ray of hope and light,” she further asserted.
